Ali began his career as an electrical engineer before moving into the world of data science and artificial intelligence over ten years ago. Since then, he has built deep expertise in machine learning, computer vision, and AI strategy, working across academic research, government regulation, and the aviation industry.

Ali’s journey started in academia and quickly progressed to applying AI to practical problems — from verifying currency to improving how airports run. At Liverpool Airport, he led a project that used AI to optimise operations, which was later featured in a short documentary. At Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, he led internal AI projects, helped shape the UK’s Online Safety Act, and briefed members of the House of Lords on AI developments. Most recently, he worked on using AI to improve aircraft maintenance at AugmentAero.
